Phir Aayi Haseen Dilruba, the much-anticipated sequel to the 2020 hit, has finally arrived. With a famous cast including Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey, Jimmy Shergill, and Sunny Kaushal, the film promised to be a thrilling ride. While the performances are commendable, the storyline falls short of expectations, leaving a sense of déjà vu. I Personally feels that there were so many rooms for an improvement.

Narrative
The film’s narrative revolves around Rani (Taapsee Pannu) and Rishu (Vikrant Massey) escaping from the police in Agra and seeking refuge with a kind admirer. However, in action, they feels like tired and not making that much sense to audience. The introduction of new characters, including the enigmatic Jimmy Shergill made his entry slower than what he did in Tanu weds Manu, and the menacing Sunny Kaushal, adds layers to the plot that one was a bit intriguing. However, the core of the story, a woman trapped in a web of deceit and manipulation, feels familiar and evokes no interest in audience.
Critics have praised the performances, especially Jimmy Shergill‘s comeback and Sunny Kaushal‘s portrayal of the antagonist. Taapsee Pannu, while competent, doesn’t quite match the intensity of her previous performance. The supporting cast, including Poonam, adds depth to the narrative.
While the film attempts to keep viewers engaged with twists and turns for a very first half, the overall plot remains much predictable. The shayari exchanges between characters are a unique touch but don’t elevate the story significantly. Therefore, this leads viewers take frequent breaks in between and loose the grip of the plot.
Despite its shortcomings, Phir Aayi Haseen Dilruba is a decent one-time watch for those who have no other options left for the weekend. However, for those who have a penchant for crime thrillers, the film might not offer much new. Instead, you can go for Curry and Cyanide which is trending top 10 in Netflix.
